Each month we'll interview a member of the Sine
Fine Film company, asking the same or similar questions, and learn more about
the actors and crew.
This month I'm interviewing James McKinley who's been with the company since
the spring of 2001.
Q: How did
you get involved in SFF? (And what possessed you to keep coming back for more
torture?)
A: LOL. I love torture. Just Kidding. I was watching Pandora's Box on
SPC-TV at SIUC and was like, I would like to meet the person behind this. Turns
out I had a film class with you and after becoming a member of SPC-TV, I became
friends with you and helped on an episode and that turned into cameos and
co-starring parts. Plus, I loved being apart of something I enjoyed and hanging
out with you.
Q: What was
your favorite part to play?
A: Each one was fun to play but of course I would have to say
Skyler Jackson because I got to dig my teeth into a character and get into his
head. Plus it was fun to co-create him with you.
Q: What was
your favorite filming day?
A: It is a tie between the day we filmed for the Giftbearer carriage
kidnapping scene and evening Brittany directed the "Who You Drugged
Us" walking through doorways scene. The carriage scene brought most of the
cast together, which was fun and I got be in a scene with the main cast. It was
the first time I felt apart of the magic that is the Gift Bearer.
The Eidolon scene was a long day of
filming and by the time we got to that scene,we were exhausted. The more we
tried to get through the scene, the funnier it got and we were slap happy. I
couldn't stop laughing. It was so much fun.
Q: What was
your least favorite filming day?
A: I don’t think I have a specific one. They
were all good. I think the least fun was when we were tired and frustrated and
trying to not snap at each other which wasn’t that much.
Q: What’s your dream role?
A: I would love to play
a gay character who is in depth and kind of like me. Identifies with the bear
community and is trying to be apart of the world. Make it better for himself
and others. I would also love to direct and produce movies. I have a few ideas
for TV shows and Movies.
Q: What’s your favorite
production to watch?
A: I really enjoy watching Eidolon because it
brings back so many memories of hanging out with you guys and goofing off and
also creating a really special show. The story was compelling and complex and
the acting was great. Plus, it brought the Champaign actors together with the
SIUC actors.
Q: What’s your favorite
costume, accessory, or prop?
A: I loved the pants I wore in the Gift Bearer
scene because I felt so Regal but I would have to say my Eraserhead T-Shirt
because I love that movie and it is the closest to what I wear normally.
Q: Who’s your favorite actor
co-star/actor you’ve worked with? Who would you like to work with in the
future?
A: Wow. That’s a hard one because I always wanted
to work with Virgina McCreary ever since seeing Pandora's Box and got to in
Eidolon, which I loved.
It's always awesome to work
with Brittany and Morgan because we're close friends, have lots of fun, and it
would be great to be in another production with them again.
Q: Sum up each production
