Welcome to Sine Fine Films!
We're a company of actors, writer, directors, and random weird people who enjoy making movies in our spare time. It's pretty fun. We like it. This blog is intended to share the stories of our past adventures and talk about new and upcoming projects. We're based in Central Illinois, but have filmed in several midwestern states. SFF is always looking for fresh victims -- I mean "talent", and are always in need of actors, directors, writers, extras, and crew people. If you are not yet a member of SFF but would like to be please leave a comment.
Be aware we have some guidelines for specific roles:
ACTORS: We require all potential actors to be able to breathe. I know that makes us prejudiced against dead people, but that's just the way it is. If you're a ghost looking to break into the entertainment business then we'll reconsider the breathing requirment. Being able to walk and talk is nice, but it's not really necessary.
WRITERS: We require all writers to submit their scripts in a type-written format, either printed from a computer or emailed as a .pdf. We'd prefer short film scripts, and will only accept them if the writer understands that what is written in the script may not turn out exactly as he/she wants it to look. All of the SFF writers can tell you that. ***We no longer accept papyrus scrolls, wooden codexes, or cuneiform tablets due to the delicate nature of those materials, and the inability to read people's handwriting (especially on clay tablets)***
DIRECTORS: Seriously, we'd love more directors, but the biggest requirement is that the director being able to film quickly and efficently (we usually only have one or two days to shoot a short film). Our equipment currently consists of a small ditigal home movie camera, a computer mic (when we get fancy), and flashlights. Directors must be realistic about our budgetary problems. Our main budgetary problem is that we have no budget, and the few times we manage to have a budget it pretty much resembles the cost a large pizza, because that's usually what we use it for. We used to have a pretty good accounting system, but then the abacus broke and we can't afford to replace it.
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP: A member of SFF is anyone who has willingly appeared on camera for more than 3 seconds. How much participation you have beyond that point is entirely up to you - some people work on one production, some people work on dozens. Although you don't have to be creative, comedic, or crazy, it helps.
